My first Public Talk

My first Public Talk

Ok so this is one blunder I made on my first public talk...actually it was a seminar....I never want to remember.

Few days back I wrote about Getting a new job.....yeah so i joined and came to know about this workshop gonna conducted by the department.....now in this workshop people from different places of India were supposed to participate. I was new so minimal work for me...haaaaa....but deep inside I wanted o actively participate in arranging and helping out the participants.....

Before going further i mean writing further as to what I did.....i was just thinking how many times I have given a public talk......In school i have been giving speeches...but there i knew most of my teachers and the schoolmates were also not new. in Graduation or post grad....there use be class seminars...there also professors as well as classmates were close to me....I knew any mistakes no one will criticize me no one going to catch and point out my mistakes.....I always gave good presentation and thought i am good at it until this day......

so just 3 days before the workshop at my institute.....i was asked to prepare a seminar.....well my boss is a sweetheart she wanted me to feel good and that i should not feel left out that’s the reason she asked me to present.....well i was happy cause the topic given to me....oh i was familiar to it...I happily prepared a tutorial for the participants and made it as simple as possible with all the snapshot of the steps they have to follow...... made a presentation for my self....showed it to a colleague.....minute changes were suggested and things were great....

This was a 3 day workshop my seminar was supposed to be on the 3rd day...great i was prepared before the 3rd day......

So here comes the D-Day. As I was not sooo familiar with the topics on that day i could hardly help out people on the 1st day.....Then came the 2nd day...good day… until madam asked me to present today...hey but my presentation was on the 3rd day na.....ya ya ya...but ma’am wanted to finish of the third day early...so it was decided ill present today but tutorials will be held next day..."is it fine with you neha????" "Yes ma’am I can handle it...no probs ma’am"........... 'Damn what a fool I am y i nodded to it...'

Well I had an hour to go through what I have...well i knew I can do it...

But i think here i was wrong I tried my best to prepare in the time left.....

Time flew so fast and 1 hour was gone....I found my self standing on the dice in front of 15-17 people who were specialist in their own field. My co workers were new to me (except 1-my classmate) and audiences were new. I cleared my throat and hey where my voice i kept staring the board and my presentation displayed on it. ha for 1st 2 minutes for the very first time in my life i could speak nothing....

Slow words came in and i started my talk on databases. I kept reading the slides looking at my laptop and not the audience. I forgot every question that i decided to ask the participants in order to interact with them. All I knew was to get out of this dice. I didn’t care whether they understood anything or not. Slowly and slowly i became normal....my shivering was reducing...words came out were now steady and now I could look into the eyes of the audience...

ha ha ha ha ha to my surprise I found half of them sleeping... mine was the last lecture of the day just before lunch...some were not bothered some were too hungry to listen and some were enjoying their sleep in the dark AC hall.....

Any ways I completed the talk somehow
I know very well mine was the worst a ‘bad impression’ on the staff of my new office. Luckily my boss was out for some work she entered the hall when my lecture’s question-answer session was about to end. She helped me answering few doubts and was there for my rescue.....

But still if she would have been listening to my talk she would have fired me immediately….

I have never been sooooo bad in life…I don’t know how many of them were interested or rather listening….i don’t how many understood and how much they understood…but I was glad its all over…I thought next day my tutorials will rock….they will need no support no help…I had made it sooo damn simple each step screenshots and very easy words…….so was thinking next day will be impressive

I think you guessed it right next day was worse. They asked sooo many doubts sooo many…they never so hyperactive in other tutorials as they were in mine….each second a hand raised and they called….finally in the end few people gathered me and asked me to show whats going on in the tutorials…bang!!!!!!!! This was my worst moment……

and then some 1 wispered “if she does it will get over soon this is the last tutorial of the workshop…I wish this gets over soon yaar” So now I realized they were not interested in computers at all…..this databse making was boring and not happening for them….they didn’t have to use it in future so they didn’t want it……sahi hai whats wrong in that

Par in sab main
1> mera popat hua
2> impression down hua
3> frustration hua
4> and……and…. My topic was not what they wanted….

Ha it’s all done…hope I do wel next time……at least I learnt that I need more public exposure to be confident speaker.
Ha ha ha ha aha ha ha aha ha…..yeah hai meri kahani

वक्त नहीं

वक्त नाहिं

yeah meri kavita nahi hai. aur nahi isse maine likha hai...mujhe ek dost ka mail aya aur mujhe yeah kavita achi aur sachi lagi so main publish kar diya

I wonder if I could write such meaningful and beautiful peoms. But iI guess in this poem, poet has given true meaning of being busy. What v miss in our life when we are busy

Rain Rain you came again!!!!!!!!!!!!

This rain's shadow on the dashboard of my car
Hey its Rainy season again. This is said to be pre-monsoon still but what condition it has made of my Mumbai. Every where water, water and more of water. Potholes have started making its appearance, definitely which is not visible when its raining. Ha it has because it’s full of water in them. So what do you think rains are good or have more disadvantages. Of course advantages are more. It’s impossible to live with peace the whole year if no rains in these 3-4 months occur. They play vital role in life.

If we try to analyze rains make nature happy. Trees turn greener and beautiful, small grasses grow which gives the whole environment a new fresh look. So if nature is happy we can’t complain about the season.

I just love rains when
1. I am at home with whole of my family and its raining outside. From my balcony the site is breath-taking during rains.
2. When I am in office. Well no site view from there but I feel safe he he he
3. When I am on a hill station in natures lap.

Well this is picture taken from net...not my creation
And I hate it
1. When I am traveling…in trains, bus so much of delays and traffic every where yaar.
2. When I am driving my car its so risky

But any ways rains are a big relief after bad summers in Mumbai and it gives us water to drink and other purpose the whole year, so better reasons love you rain.

Just hopping this year rains are better than past….

From Home to Work.....

Well its been long since i have filled my blog...
hmm things have changed drastically since my last entry...My Post graduation is complete and my training is done...for 8months i was at home...no job n just searching for it....got call for few interviews and went for interview for some...but no luck

Worst of all were those neighbors who kept nagging .. “you still didn't get any job...you are home???? going to do a job or not???? and the worst shadi vadi ho rahi hai kya?????

Ha those were my worst days...I started hating those people and started avoiding any conversation with them. I was successful but my parent were not. They frequently met people who kept on asking them the same questions. They came back home irritated and tell me the whole thing. Ah that was painful.....My brother started irritating soon. He is younger to me but he kept bothering me with his questions and curiosity...may be he was concerned but i was frustrated....

Though I was all baffled I had one thing to enjoy.....sleeping and the freedom to go anywhere any time.....
I usually go out with my mom...occasionally with my friends. It used to be fun I could enjoy...

All my friends tried to console me.... “are its good yaar enjoy urself now later you will have to suffer for a free day once you get a job....” I did felt they were kind and may be right but that time i just wanted to work....by the end of 5th month i was used to the home environment. I started liking what ever i did at home and even almost stopped searching for a new job...Strangely i started enjoying at home.....and suddenly i realized it ...I started asking myself “whats going on”. It was like as if i am made to b at home. I felt bad for myself I always wanted to work and earn own my own, be independent and live life.

11 march'08 I and one of my classmate gave an interview in an research institute for my subject department. One of our classmates was working in the same institute. Before the co mince of the interview, this friend came to us to wish good luck. Sweet of her. She advised and actually forced me to give this interview.
The interview was done but still i had no clue whether it was good or not. I was just was waiting for the next day to come because they were going to call if selected.

The next day at every phone ring I ran to pick it up, but no calls came for me the whole day. Next few days i didn't move out of my house with a hope that call will come. Within few I came to know that 3 people have been selected and have joined the inst. I was the 4th int he list of selected candidates. That was really painful. Somehow things carried on. I was sad for missing a good opportunity the whole next month. Not a single day passed that i was not doleful about it.

By the 2nd week of may I had given few interviews but not from my field. Some didnt like me. Some didnt like. So life was only at home. All my classmates started doing something, whether in the same field or switched to IT industries. Few girls even got married or engaged. And here I was the only one doing nothing.

My friends talked about their schedule and how much less time they get for themselves and i simply had nothing to talk about. Life was moving.

Finally I got a call from the same inst in 2nd week of may. They asked if I could join them. That was the only thing I wanted to hear. I then contacted head of dept and fixed a date to meet her in the lab.

I went to office on the decided date and started doing all the formalities required. And today i am working in the lab. Its been only 15 days since I am working, I feel its only tomorrow I felt helpless and bad about myself.

I have left all the negativity behind and looking forward to new challenges in my life. My career has at last started and I have lots to learn.

May be this article has no meaning but this is very important writeup for me.
Without forgetting i should thank my dearest classmate (who was working in the inst)who forced me to attend the interview. I will always be thankful to her for this opportunity.
God bless her.
